Horizontal Wishbone Bracket
This is an old Desert Racing technique, mounting the heim horizontally to reduce strain on the wishbone joint. It has done its job well for many years.
In doing so you put the pressure of holding the axle under the truck on the stronger part of the joint, the housing. When the joint if vertical the pressure is on the bearing race. This causes premature failure of the bearing.
This also makes for a lower overall height bracket to get the seperation VS. a Heim mounted vertically. We made these out of .25" plate so it can take the strain but for extreme use you should also gusset the bracket or tie your truss into it.
