We are very particular about how these go together because we see so many broken and cracked weld battery hold downs, and most of the broken ones weren't cheap either. The real problem we have found with the easily broken ones was multiple welds on too thin material, some are only 20 gauge. They simply can't take the vibration.
We followed the form of our single battery boxes and made these with very close tolerances so they didn't have to be too thick of material because if it fits well it won't be bouncing around. So we use 12 gauge (about 1/10" thick) and MIG the center tab, that should avoid the vibration cracks around the welds the rest are so famous for. Here is the side by side widthwise.
Each battery has a hold down in the shape of the newer battery top (if you have an older Optimas they will still fit). We do not pre-drill any holes for mounting because you will want to mount them for YOUR vehicle and not have to work around someone else's idea of what is right. They can be bolted or welded in but remember that batteries are heavy.
Easy ordering, fast delivery! Exceeded all my expectations, very well put together! I have already recommended it to many others!

Great Battery Box
By Scott Brooks in CA on 10.10.2011
Very impressed with the quality of this box. Material is a little lighter than I had envisioned, but when mounted with the batteries installed, is very rigid. That's the mark of good engineering: just heavy enough to be strong, with no unnecessary bulk or weight. As always, shipping was lightning fast as well.

Questions and Answers
Brandon on -- Asked: Will it fit my 2011 Toyota Tundra I just got a red top 35 8020-164 optima battery?
Answered: A dual box likely won't fit in most factory locations, we provide measurements for you to see if you've got a spot to put it.
Tim on -- Asked: Can you custom for multiply say 6 t106 or any 8 d" combo of 4..what aluminum are you using...would you weld directly on a frame...can your boxes withstand high heat salt enviroment
Answered: We only have the option for a single tray or dual tray and do not make any custom boxes. These are actually made with mild steel to make it easy to weld or bolt down, whichever is easiest. We do recommend painting/clear coating them to prevent rust/corrosion as they come as bare metal.
