We spent the time needed to do this right and we are going to share......The Kit consists of 6 pieces, 2 outside scab plates, 2 inner boxing plates, and 2 for the notch itself to complete the boxing. Both the inner & outer pieces are 10 Gauge steel so they are not too much thicker than the existing frame but when combined the outer frame is nearly 1/4" thick. These will allow for the maximum up travel....
The Notch bottom piece is 1/4" because it will take greater force. The outer is sized so you can weld it to the frame prior to welding the Notch in place for greater strength and use the existing frame holes for plug welding too. The inner completely boxes the frame from the inside so you gain the full strength in the area of the Notch. I have seen a whole bunch of variations of how people have done this and I must say some people need to stop and think about strength when they do this. You need to clean up the old shock mounting bends (cut a small V, bend flat and weld), we even went as far as to trim the frame to an even width. These will fit on all Rangers and do the job right the first time! You must not be intimidated by major frame surgery to complete these and MUST understand a bed cage is also required.
