Many vehicles need certain areas of their frame reinforced for the type of abuse we like to put them through. We have several reinforcement sets available now and are developing more everyday. If there is a need you see us not filling let us know and we may add it to our list.
Most frame reinforcement plates are either boxing a C channel frame or reinforcing a weak point (Toyota IFS steering box). When adding to an existing frame section you are creating a sandwich effect and the weld acts as the web in an I beam. Therefore, we use .188" (3/16) when adding to an existing structure. When boxing you are adding new material to an area with nothing previously so you can add a significant amount of strength that simply wasn't there before
