A word about Spring Shackles. Shackle manufacturers have gone off the deep end lately. I am begining to see .5" (1/2) Shackles, whats up with that? I see the requirements of Shackles evolving but not in that direction. As I see it, shackles should be smooth so they don't hang up on rocks (Ours have a completely round end), they should be strong but allow some flex (.25 is too weak, .5 is to strong), and they should be somewhat adaptable (ours have the option of being fixed semi-rigidly with a .75 bolt). Other than those few requirements they are pretty much the same, but live up to those requirements, it dosen't cost you any more.
