This is the first of our Desert Racing Link suspension components. We took a long time developing these and changed them 25 times before we were happy with them. They really aren't something you just throw together in an afternoon! Our background has been in Rock Crawling where heavy parts are the norm and we didn't avoid adding bulk where needed but the kinds of impacts received in racing are a little different than in Rock Crawling so we had to adjust our methods. I agree completely with the layering style Desert Racers have developed over the years to make bracketry except in one area, the number of welds..... When I look at a bracket I always look for ways to eliminate welds where ever possible. To do so you must be a very good bender because if its' not cut in the first place you won't have to weld it back together later. These Lower Link Brackets are a very good example of what I'm talking about.
The inside Primary piece is made of one peice of material bent 6 times, the overlay is bent 5 times and together they make for a single unit much stronger, with less stress risers than multiple pieces cut and welded for all those surface areas. The overlay must fit like a glove to do so and it does! This particular bracket is designed to work on any vehicle and either below the frame or on the side of the frame.
If it is below we add the Lower Frame Tab Reinforcement, if on the side the Frame will reinforce the inside tab. The entire bracket is desinged to turn nearly any impact into a glancing blow and is very streamlined. We make them with 2 internal trapped nuts, internal gusseting, and 8 external holes if you want to bolt them on but we prefer welding them on for maximum strength. We will sell them for $15 less if you don't want the bolts and $40 less if you don't need the Lower frame Tab Reinforcement but call us for those options. The other options are MIG welded (+$70) or TIG welded (+125).
