This video shows how we build our axles straight.

The jig that the housing sits in does not clamp the housing down and hold it straight, it is a tool for adding preload and holding it in place to work on. Read the rest of this entry »

    Reno Torchmate Ultra4 Stampede

    Posted: October 19th, 2011

We are lucky with the Reno races in that they are only 90 minutes away from us. The weather was great and with one of our employees racing (Brian Tilton is our shipping manager) we had to be there.

This was an interesting and brutal race. Read the rest of this entry »

    RuffStuff’s Hours

    Posted: October 15th, 2011

I need to tell you this has always been one of the things that get on my nerves. You work til 5 and the company you want to do business with closes at 5 and they are 10 or 20 miles away…

We are not bankers, why do automotive shops work bankers hours? How can you do business with them if you cannot get in touch with them? Read the rest of this entry »

    Just what is a preorder?

    Posted: October 15th, 2011

As I see it a pre-order is a way a company develops a product using your money to do it. This is wrong, pure and simple.

Many people have asked us to be able to pre-order things ahead of actual production? I simply do not agree with the ethics involved, yes it would allow us to grow faster. But as I see it, taking no risk by using your money to do the R&D and then to pay for the actual construction is just wrong. I can also never be certain how long they will take to produce. Posted: October 14th, 2011
    • These are just some basic tips for tig welding steel, I am the first to admit that I am not the best tig welder out there but I know a few things about welding that I would like to share.

This was our 4th year as a sponsor for the Cantina. It gets its name from the Tacos they sell as a fund raiser for the RTF (Rubicon Trail Foundation) There is a small Vender fee to display your wares and we always try to show new stuff there but the big deal is the RAFFLE!

Venders & Manufacturers from near and far donate raffle prizes and the Raffle ticket sales raise the big money! We make a point to give heavy and often. The Rubicon is in our backyard Read the rest of this entry »

    RuffStuff Differential Cover Allen Wrench

    Posted: October 14th, 2011

Our differential covers use a 9/16 allen wrench to tighten the fill plug. Instead of buying one you could just make your own out of a 3/8 bolt with two nuts because the nuts for a 3/8″ bolt are 9/16 OD. Its a tool you don’t need to often but it is something you can carry easily enough and make from scrap parts around the garage..

    NORCAL Rock Racing 2011

    Posted: October 14th, 2011

We went to all of the events John put on this year, both to display our wares and to support racers.

NORCAL puts on exciting, fan friendly short course events that combine the best of rock crawling with several impressive rock gardens to cross and the best of the short course world also with a 1 7/8 mile track that is all visible from the grandstands.  The whoops are real and the jumps can go 60′. We go to Johns events as a sponsor but his are just plain fun to watch too!

In 2012 John has big plans so watch for information and don’t miss them if you are in the area.
