This is for those applications where lateral shear is a factor. This style of coupler allows mounted items to be removed outward from the tube end, like removing a cork from a bottle. Items like removable bumpers, tire mounts, sliders, or maybe even an engine cage.
As you can see by the design, these are fully housed to protect against shear. A very simple design yet somewhat complicated to manufacture. We searched around for anything like this and could not find it so we had to make it ourselves.
This fits a 1.75" O.D. Tube with a .120 wall thickness.
