Jeep xj DIY bumper brackets.

Bought these brackets to build myself a bumper obviously. Installed the brackets to take measurements so I can design a "prerunner style" tube bumper with a winch. I was bummed out to see that when these brackets are mounted the useable amount of material is about 6" long from the grill forward. Most winch's are about 6.5" in depth so I either need to cut into my grill or use a mill to slot the mounting holes so I can pull more length from the brackets. In my opinion these brackets should have been about 10" long from the grill forward as well as the break in the bracket moved forward so it is useable. 3/4 of the break is under the core support of the Jeep rendering it not a suitable place to weld a winch plate to. I love Ruff Stuffs parts, I have a ton of them on my Jeep as well as my Ford ranger. I feel like they screwed the pooch on these bumper brackets.
