Horizontal 4 Link Bracket
A proven desert-racing style bracket that mounts joints horizontally for strength and durability.
This design isn’t new — it’s been used for over 20 years by desert racers — but it’s still one of the smartest ways to set up upper links. By placing the heim joint horizontally with a vertical bolt, the load is transferred into the strongest part of the joint rather than across the bearing races. That means less wear, more durability, and longer life from your rod ends.
With shocks and limit straps handling vertical travel, the bearing races are typically forced to absorb lateral motion when mounted traditionally — which just accelerates wear. This bracket solves that problem while also giving you packaging advantages. With the bolt oriented vertically, you can place joints closer together, increasing triangulation without worrying about bolt head clearance. We recommend leaving about 1/2" between joints when running 1.25" heims.
Made from 1/4" steel, these brackets are tall enough to adapt to any truss or weldable housing. They’re cut with a 9/16" bolt hole that can easily be drilled larger if needed. Going smaller isn’t recommended since it would weaken the bracket. Designed for flat mounting surfaces but easily modified to fit other setups.
Key Features:
- Part Number: R1392
- Orients heims horizontally with a vertical bolt for strength
- Reduces lateral load on bearing races for longer joint life
- Allows tighter joint spacing to increase triangulation
- Laser-cut from 1/4" steel
- Includes 9/16" bolt hole (can be drilled larger)
- Adaptable to trusses, housings, and other weldable surfaces
What's Included in the Kit:
- (1) Horizontal 4 Link Bracket
Note:
Ideal for upper link mounting. While not practical to use on every joint, running these on your uppers provides both strength and packaging advantages. Designed for flat surfaces but can be modified for other applications.
