14 Bolt Disc Brake Conversion Kit (SRW)
Drop the drums—gain stopping power, save weight, and simplify your build.
This complete disc brake conversion kit is designed for full float 14 Bolt single rear wheel (SRW) axles, commonly found in GM and Chevy 3/4-ton and 1-ton trucks from 1973 to 1987. It replaces heavy drum brakes with a stronger, lighter, and more responsive disc brake setup. In many cases, it’s more affordable than rebuilding worn-out drum systems and delivers significantly better braking performance.
This kit is engineered to work with axles that have the brake drum mounted behind the hub (non-slip-over drums). To verify compatibility, measure from the 4-bolt caliper bracket flange to the hub face — it should be approximately 4-11/16".

Fitment Notes
- Studs must drop freely into the rotors — do not press-fit
- Oversized studs may require drilling rotors to fit
- Ensure at least 5/8" lug nut thread engagement with wheels installed
- Factory studs usually work; dually studs may be required for longer length
- Re-bleed brake system after installation
- Remove any residual valve to prevent rear brake drag
- Manual proportioning valve recommended for dialing in brake balance
Upgrade Options
- Parking Brake Caliper Upgrade: Swap to El Dorado-style calipers with built-in parking brake levers (uses 7/16" banjo bolts)
