Description

Ford Dana 60 Full Float Rear Disc Brake Kit (1977–1984)

Convert your Ford full float Dana 60 rear axle from drums to discs for lighter weight, easier service, and stronger braking.

This kit is designed for 1977–1984 Ford 3/4- and 1-ton trucks running full float Dana 60 rear axles. It includes brackets, rotors, calipers, pads, hoses, and hardware for a complete swap. The brackets are radiused at 3-15/16" and mount inboard of the 4-bolt flange with the bend toward the wheel. This conversion eliminates heavy drum brakes, improves stopping power, and simplifies future maintenance.

Fits single rear wheel axles only and requires 15" steel wheels with ≤4" backspacing or larger aluminum wheels. It does not work with semi-float or van axles due to frame and spring clearance issues. Some hubs may require machining depending on thickness. Be sure to confirm stud diameter and fitment before assembly.

Note

Fits 1977–1984 Ford SRW Dana 60 full float rear axles only. Will not work on semi-float or van axles. Studs must drop freely into rotors — do not press fit. Oversized studs may require drilling. Ensure at least 5/8" lug nut thread engagement; dually studs are often long enough. Some hubs may require machining 3/16" if rotors do not slip over. Re-bleed system after install. Remove any residual valve to prevent rear brake drag. An adjustable proportioning valve is recommended to properly balance front/rear brake bias (~70% front). Driver side bracket: R1336-01, Passenger side bracket: R1336-02.

No instructions. Not a big deal. My issue was one of the "new" calipers did not fit the rotor properly with the pads. Swap pads side to side. No change. Had to grind the pad quite a bit to go over the rotor. Unsure what went wrong. Triple checked everything. Like the piston won't collapse enough from machining process

Great.

This kit worked great. I actually have a Dana 61 in my '78 F250, no problem there. The kit came with no instructions, but it is fairly straight forward. On my vehicle the bracket bends went towards the inside. I did need to use some grade 8, half inch washers as shims between the caliper bracket and axle flange to center the pads in the caliper. Other than that, it went straight on. Now I am enjoying smooth super, even braking. I hope this helps. Thanks guys!
