Jeep Wrangler JK, Fully Welded Tie Rod

Jeep Wrangler JK, Fully Welded Tie Rod

Jeep JK Specific Off Set Tie Rod!! Fits 2007-2017 Jeep JK fully welded. Heavy Duty and a great addition for your vehicle! This kit Includes a fully welded Tie rod with hex head tube adapters, and Offset GM 1 ton TRE's (1LH & 1 RH). Tie rod is made of 1.5" x .25" thick DOM Steel tube pre fit for the JK Axles.

This kit will work on 17" wheels with a maximum 3.75 Backspacing. May not fit 17"inch factory wheels. It will NOT fit your factory steering stabilizer bracket!

You may have to ream your knuckle's taper (depending on which knuckle you use) to accept the GM 1 ton TRE but the end result is more than worth the effort!

Some aftermarket and factory wheels with deep backspacing could make contact with tie rod ends. It is the owners responsibility to be aware of changes to vehicle performance and handling characteristics.

5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 1 ton tie rod
By Tim Perkins in KY on 5.14.2019
After doing some search, I decided to go with the Ruffstuff tie rod. Install went easy. Even drilling out the knuckles was not that bad. Got everything on and it drives great. Have wheeled it three or four times and everything is holding up great. I would recommend this to anyone. My only complaint is the boot on the tie rod. It just sits on there. Looks like it will let the grease leak out. Even though it has been on for 4 thousand miles and no leak. I just donít care for the design.

Just received this from the brown truck today. Man this thing is pretty hard core! 1.5 X .25 DOM not much more to say. Doubt I could bend it wheeling and probably the last tie rod I will ever need on this particular Jeep. TREs are nice and HD also. Not much more to say...buy it! Or be a dumbass and spend a lot more money on something inferior.

This was the perfect solution for my franken-jeep! The material is top notch quality. The welds are simply beautiful and the fit is perfect. I had questions on another part of my order and they answered them all simply and completely. I would not hesitate to order anything from Ruff Stuff again. This is my go to for all things Jeep builder. Ordering is simple, shipping is fast and customer service is the envy of all service companies today. Cell carriers should take a note from these guys' professionalism and care. I never feel like a number, but more like a friend. Thanks Ruff Stuff!

Couldn't be happier. Ships bare steel, so I painted it matte black. Looks great. One small issue: one of the castle nuts they included was too small for the offset TRE. Had to make a run to the hardware store, no big deal. Like I said, couldn't be happier. I put it through hell in Moab, no issues whatsoever. You won't find a better Tie Rod, much less a better price.

First of all, this tie rod is beefy! It's pretty simple to install, and looks amazing. I was a little frustrated because they sent me the wrong item at first, but they completely made up for it! I called them and they sent me out the correct part right away. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

By Chris Voorheis in ID on 2.21.2017
Easy to assemble, the beef this thing has upon opening is unreal! The Joints are much larger in person and not worried at all regarding strength. I spent 30 hours researching and this is what I got. Best bang for the buck for sure!

I just had Johnny Wood OffRoad install the Ruffstuff Tie Rod on my Jeep JK with the knuckle inserts. It is beefy and well built. It was a quick and easy install and everything fit like a glove. I recommend this item to everyone. It is Heavy Duty and priced right.

Questions and Answers

Ask a Question

Staffan on -- Asked: Morning. what all would I need to buy for this tie rod to work on my 2008 Jk... Thanks

Answered: All you would need is a reamer https://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/REAM.html or the tapered knuckle inserts and a 7/8" drill bit https://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/INSSTEER-2PK.html You may also need a larger mount for the stabilizer to fit the 1.5" tube used in this kit https://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/R1713.html
Kelly on -- Asked: Will this work with a 17 inch rim with 4.5" backspacing?

Answered: No it must be a 3.75" backspace or less.
Cordell on -- Asked: With your tie rod do I need to drill out my stock knuckles and sleeve them? Or will your tie rod fit directyky on my rubicon 44 axle? Thanks

Answered: The JK has a metric taper so it is slightly different, you will want to ream the knuckles or use the tapered inserts to get the correct taper
Eddie S. on -- Asked: Is there an option for hiem joints ends instead of these 1 tons ends?

Answered: Not at this time. The 7/8 heim joints are a different thread pitch than the GM 1 ton ends and are shorter in length.
Arcadio on -- Asked: I want to make sure this is the completed tie rod correct no welding remove the old one tie rod and install the ruffstuff tie rod

Answered: Yes comes welded. The only modification you will need to do is ream your knuckles to the GM 1 ton taper as the stock jeep taper is a very close but metric taper that does not allow proper contact of the tapered tie rod end pins. Reamer for GM 1 ton is 7*
Michael P. on -- Asked: Will this work with 15" rims, with back spacing of 3.75"?

Answered: No, they must be at least 17" wheels with a maximum of 3.75" backspacing.
